The Burdenko Method
Water’s unique physical properties provide an ideal environment for rehabilitation, conditioning,
and training. The Burdenko Method is a multi-purpose program in water and on land that allows
the body to move freely, restore range of motion, and improve posture, body mechanics and
self-awareness. The method begins in water eliminating 90% of the body weight and then progresses
to mastering functional movement on land. Developed and refined over 40 years by Dr. Igor Burdenko,
PhD, the Burdenko Method combines the benefits and advantages of water and land to develop and
improve the six functional qualities of movement: balance, coordination, flexibility, endurance,
speed, and strength.
